The Internal Compass Journal is a 90-day guided emotional awareness practice for children ages 3–10, built around the three
skills that form the foundation of lifelong emotional health: the ability to
see feelings clearly, feel them fully, and act with intention even when they
are big.

A 3-month empathy journey - See - Feel - Choose

Internal
Compass guides children through a complete emotional intelligence arc across
three intentional months, each one building naturally on the last. Together
they form the full cycle taught in CBT, ACT, and somatic therapy: observe
without judgment, experience without avoidance, act in alignment with values.

Month 1 - See - Ophelia the Owl

I can see my feelings without needing to fix them.

Month 2 - Feel - Bella the Butterfly

I can feel my feelings fully without running from them.

Month 3 - Choose - Wyatt the Wolf

I can make good choices even when my feelings are big.

By the end of three months, your
child will not just understand their emotions, they will have practised
relating to them in the most powerful way possible: with curiosity, with
courage, and with choice.

3-months of Unique Daily Lessons and Activities

Every single day in Internal Compass is different. Each page includes a carefully
designed daily lesson and activity drawn from evidence-based therapeutic
frameworks, CBT (separating feelings from behavior), ACT (accepting feelings without being ruled by them), and somatic approaches (understanding what feelings feel like in the body). all translated into warm, age-appropriate
language a child can actually use.

Because the journal is undated, you can start any day and move at your own pace. Missed a week? Pick up where you left off. No guilt. No wasted pages.

Each daily page also includes:

  • Mood check-in — how am I feeling today?
  • Gratitude log — what am I noticing and appreciating?
  • Daily character affirmation — a truth to carry through the day
3 original characters - A new guide each month

Children learn through story and relationship. That's why each month of Internal Compass is anchored by an original character who embodies that month's teaching, not as a teacher above them, but as a companion walking alongside them.

Ophelia the Owl leads Month 1 —
wise, still, and quietly observant. Ophelia teaches children to see their
feelings with curiosity and without judgment. To notice, to name, and to
understand that seeing a feeling is not the same as being ruled by it.

• Bella the Butterfly leads Month 2
— brave, open, and fully alive. Bella teaches children that feelings are safe
to feel. That avoiding them makes them bigger, and that moving through them,
not around them, is where real courage lives.

Wyatt the Wolf leads Month 3 —
grounded, strong, and values-led. Wyatt teaches children that big feelings
don't have to lead to big regrets. That they can acknowledge what they feel and still choose how they respond.

Each character is introduced at
the start of their month, woven through every daily affirmation, and given a
full introduction page so your child feels genuinely accompanied through each
chapter.

Built-in Monthly Rhythm

Each month has its own complete arc, so the practice never feels flat or repetitive. The monthly structure gives your child a sense of momentum, reflection, and celebration as they move through their empathy journey.

Every month includes:

  • Character introduction — meet your guide for the month
  • Monthly habit tracker — build the daily practice one check at a time
  • Character coloring page — a calming, creative close to each chapter
Grounded in CBT, ACT, and somatic Therapies

Internal Compass is built on three of the most effective evidence-based frameworks in emotional health, translated out of the therapist's office and into your child's morning routine.

The three frameworks and what they
teach your child:

• CBT (Cognitive Behavioral
Therapy) — Month 1 with Ophelia introduces children to the idea that feelings and behaviors are separate. Seeing a feeling clearly means you don't have to act on it immediately. That space between feeling and response is where choice
lives.

• ACT (Acceptance and Commitment
Therapy) — Month 2 with Bella teaches children that the goal is not to eliminate difficult feelings but to make room for them. Avoidance makes feelings grow. Full experience, without judgment, is how they pass.

• Somatic Awareness — woven
throughout all three months, children learn to notice where feelings live in
the body - the tight chest, the hot face, the wobbly legs. Body literacy is the
foundation of emotional regulation.

These are the same skills taught
in children's therapy offices around the world. Internal Compass puts them into
a 5-minute daily practice any family can do together, at home, starting
tomorrow.

Therapist-Approved - 5 Minutes a Day

Internal Compass is therapist-approved and designed to be completed in just five minutes a day. short enough to fit into any morning routine or bedtime ritual, meaningful enough to matter.

Because the journal is undated and self-paced, it grows with your child. Work through it once and return to it again. Use it alongside the Empathy Bridge Journal for a complete daily emotional awareness practice that covers self-regulation, emotional vocabulary, and empathy - the three foundations of emotional intelligence.

Emotional regulation is not a trait children either have or don't. It is a skill, built in small moments, repeated over time, guided by the people who love them most. Internal Compass gives you the structure. You bring the five minutes and the connection.

This book is such an important and age appropriate way to start the conversation with your young kids about feelings and managing your emotions. As a therapist, who works with anxious kids and families, being able to provide them with resources that kids enjoy engaging with is a great way to develop new skills such as mindfulness and deep breathing. Highly recommend!!

As a Licensed Counselor and a mom of 3, I can't say enough good things about this journal! It builds foundational emotional skills that help children identify their emotions, practice gratitude and learn tools to regulate their big feelings. And the best part is that my 3 and 4 year old are genuinely so excited to use it nightly! These tools are backed by science yet fun enough that your kids will actually want to stick with it!

Catherine Divaris, OT, Emotional Regulation Coach, Mom Potential

I was genuinely impressed by the Pebble Path Journal from the moment I opened it.

The overall visuals are clean, calm, and incredibly inviting. As an occupational therapist and Emotional regulation coach, who cares deeply about how nervous-system-friendly design impacts engagement, I immediately appreciated how soothing and uncluttered it feels. It’s not overstimulating, it’s grounding.

The characters are especially well done. They’re engaging, child-friendly, and simple in the best way. I love that there are only three characters. That simplicity makes it easier for children to follow along, understand, and build familiarity without cognitive overload.

One of my favorite elements is the visual of the path itself. It’s such a powerful and accessible metaphor for children, that we are walking a path, not reaching a destination. The skills they practice (breathing, mindfulness, emotional awareness) aren’t one-time fixes. They’re tools we use along the road. The path imagery makes that concept tangible and developmentally appropriate.

My twins are almost five and not yet writing independently, but the journal is still very user-friendly. It invites parent-child connection, sitting together, talking through big feelings, writing alongside them, and modeling the skills in real time.

The coloring pages are engaging, the daily check-ins are motivating, and the varied activities keep it fresh and interesting. It doesn’t feel repetitive, which is so important for young children.

Overall, I would absolutely recommend the Pebble Path Journal as a supportive tool for parents navigating big emotions with their children. It creates structure, connection, and skill-building in a way that feels gentle and accessible.

Such a thoughtful resource.
