The Empathy Bridge Journal is a 90-day guided emotional awareness practice for children ages 3–10, built around the most important skill we can give a child: the ability to understand, wonder about, and feel connected to the people around them.

A 3-month empathy journey - Sonder - Wonder - Echo

Empathy Bridge guides children through a complete empathy arc across three intentional months, each one building naturally on the last.

Month 1 - Sonder - Dylan the Deer

Other people have a rich inner world, just like me.

Month 2 - Wonder - Lydia the Lynx

Get curious about other people, that's how we learn and connect.

Month 3 - Echo - Bren the Beaver

We are all connected, what I do affects others and they affect me.

By the end of three months, your child won't just understand empathy as a concept. They will have lived it, one day, one lesson, one small act at a time.

3-months of Unique Daily Lessons and Activities

Every single day in Empathy Bridge is different. Each page includes a carefully designed daily lesson and activity tied to that month's theme, so your child isn't just reading about empathy, they're practicing it. No repeats. No prep. Just open, read, and begin.

Because the journal is undated, you can start any day and move at your own pace. Missed a week? Pick up where you left off. No guilt. No wasted pages.

Each daily page also includes:

  • Mood check-in — how am I feeling today?
  • Gratitude log — what am I noticing and appreciating?
  • Daily character affirmation — a truth to carry through the day
3 original characters - A new guide each month

Children learn through story and relationship. That's why each month of Empathy Bridge is anchored by an original character who guides your child through that month's theme, not as a teacher, but as a companion.

  • Dylan the Deer leads Month 1 (Sonder) — gentle, observant, and quietly wondering about the inner worlds of everyone around him.
  • Lydia the Lynx leads Month 2 (Wonder) — curious, warm, and always asking the question that opens a door.
  • Bren the Beaver leads Month 3 (Echo) — grounded, community-minded, and deeply aware of how every action ripples outward.

Each character is introduced at the start of their month, woven through every daily affirmation, and celebrated with a full coloring page at the month's close.

Built-in Monthly Rhythm

Each month has its own complete arc, so the practice never feels flat or repetitive. The monthly structure gives your child a sense of momentum, reflection, and celebration as they move through their empathy journey.

Every month includes:

  • Character introduction — meet your guide for the month
  • Monthly habit tracker — build the daily practice one check at a time
  • Mid-month check-in — pause, reflect, and notice what's shifting
  • End-of-month check-in — celebrate growth and set an intention for what comes next
  • End-of-month word search — a playful way to revisit the month's key vocabulary
  • Character coloring page — a calming, creative close to each chapter
Bonus Calm Down Resources Included

Included at the front of every Empathy Bridge Journal are four bonus tools designed to support emotional regulation at home, for your child and for you.

  • 36 Emotions Chart — expands your child's feeling vocabulary beyond happy, sad, and mad. Use it for the daily mood check-in or any time feelings are hard to find words for.
  • Calm Down Menu — a visual list of regulation strategies your child can point to when they're overwhelmed.
  • Rainbow Breath Tracer — a gentle, visual breathing tool for younger children. Trace the rainbow, breathe with it, slow down.
  • Box Breathing Guide — a simple four-count breathing exercise. Easy to learn, easy to return to.

These resources are also available as free downloads here so you can start using them today, before the journal even arrives.

Therapist-Approved - 5 Minutes a Day

Empathy Bridge is therapist-approved and designed to be completed in just five minutes a day, short enough to fit into any morning routine or bedtime ritual, meaningful enough to matter.

Because the journal is undated and self-paced, it grows with your child. Work through it once and return to it again. Use it after the original Pebble Path Journal for an ongoing emotional awareness practice that covers self-regulation, emotional vocabulary, and empathy - the three foundations of emotional intelligence.

Empathy is not a trait children either have or don't. It is a skill, built in small moments, repeated over time, guided by the people who love them most. Empathy Bridge gives you the structure. You bring the five minutes and the connection.

This book is such an important and age appropriate way to start the conversation with your young kids about feelings and managing your emotions. As a therapist, who works with anxious kids and families, being able to provide them with resources that kids enjoy engaging with is a great way to develop new skills such as mindfulness and deep breathing. Highly recommend!!

As a Licensed Counselor and a mom of 3, I can't say enough good things about this journal! It builds foundational emotional skills that help children identify their emotions, practice gratitude and learn tools to regulate their big feelings. And the best part is that my 3 and 4 year old are genuinely so excited to use it nightly! These tools are backed by science yet fun enough that your kids will actually want to stick with it!

Catherine Divaris, OT, Emotional Regulation Coach, Mom Potential

I was genuinely impressed by the Pebble Path Journal from the moment I opened it.

The overall visuals are clean, calm, and incredibly inviting. As an occupational therapist and Emotional regulation coach, who cares deeply about how nervous-system-friendly design impacts engagement, I immediately appreciated how soothing and uncluttered it feels. It’s not overstimulating, it’s grounding.

The characters are especially well done. They’re engaging, child-friendly, and simple in the best way. I love that there are only three characters. That simplicity makes it easier for children to follow along, understand, and build familiarity without cognitive overload.

One of my favorite elements is the visual of the path itself. It’s such a powerful and accessible metaphor for children, that we are walking a path, not reaching a destination. The skills they practice (breathing, mindfulness, emotional awareness) aren’t one-time fixes. They’re tools we use along the road. The path imagery makes that concept tangible and developmentally appropriate.

My twins are almost five and not yet writing independently, but the journal is still very user-friendly. It invites parent-child connection, sitting together, talking through big feelings, writing alongside them, and modeling the skills in real time.

The coloring pages are engaging, the daily check-ins are motivating, and the varied activities keep it fresh and interesting. It doesn’t feel repetitive, which is so important for young children.

Overall, I would absolutely recommend the Pebble Path Journal as a supportive tool for parents navigating big emotions with their children. It creates structure, connection, and skill-building in a way that feels gentle and accessible.

Such a thoughtful resource.
